escape from the cave room
Greetings from the Foster City Library. The walk wasn't too
bad. At least I didn't have to cross over the freeway. I think I
might know a short cut, but for now stayed on the major roads.
I stopped off at Noah's Bagels on the way for an iced tea and a
bagel. I think everywhere east of here they are now known as Einstein
Bros. Bagels. It is kind of like the whole Hellman's/Best
Foods thing. I know it is the same, but somehow the name that you first
knew it by is more comforting somehow. We actually carted a small
jar of Hellman's mayo across the Rockies. [It was pretty funny
though when we stopped at a Target in Sacramento and discovered they
sold Hellman's - I guess because they are out of Minnesota - if there
had been just an inch more space in the car I would have snagged one.]
The WIFI is free. A bit slower than the cave room, but here
there is light and people! Can you believe that since we have
been in the cave room, neither of us has turned on the
television? I think part of me knows that I might just leave it
on for background noise while I am home during the day alone.
Currently I have been just listening to KQED, the local NPR affiliate.
There are more people here than you might expect for a Wednesday
afternoon. There is a guy at the table across from me reading a
bible. Another guy at the same table is reading an Asian
newspaper. Lots of seniors and kids.
It is almost too quiet here. I should have brought my shuffle.
They are open until 9pm. Hopefully B will be done with work by
then and can come pick me up. I feel like a 12-year old
again. I also smell suntan lotion. Mmmmm....coconut.
