la is on fire
In case you haven't heard, the Santa Ana winds have kicked up in Los Angeles and Orange County and it has been a wild 24 hours. Last night around 10:20pm a brush fire in Sylmar (San Fernando Valley) got out of control, and evacuated over 1000 people. So far over 500 homes have been lost, and freeways in area are closed.
Meanwhile, sometime this afternoon, a fire started in Corona. That became known as the Yorba Linda fire (home of President Nixon) when it crossed city lines. Another small fire broke out in Brea, and decided to hop the 57 and just make it one big party. They closed the 57 an exit away from the house, so we started packing up. We actually had made plans to check out aloft - a vision of W hotels, so arrived early. Thankfully we were able to check in early.
I am stressed, although honestly I think the house will be fine. Walking around trying to figure out what to pack had me in near panic attack mode. I hate deciding what is important. I've got my passport, social security card, and 30+ year old Teddy Bear (he has survived a fire and decapation). I left the dirty laundry, despite all my favorite clothes were in the hamper. I am wearing my $80 bra though. These are not thoughts I want to have. Keep saying I am safe, and that is all that matters.
